Mikumi National Park

Mikumi National Park is one of the famous parks in the South of Tanzania. Additionally, they established it in the year 1964. It is the fourth largest park in Tanzania covering 3,230 sq km.

The south border of Mikumi is Selous Game Reserve, while its other side is bordered by Udzungwa Mountains National Park and Uluguru Mountain.

Moreover, the alluvial plain of the Mkata River basin defines the northwest, which greatly compares to Serengeti National Park in terms of its features and characteristics. As a result, this area displays mainly Palm, tamarinds, acacia, and baobab. Furthest to the area, there are rock formations called Uluguru and Rubeho mountains.

The South-east side of the park is less accessible. Therefore, it has very little wildlife.

Additionally, the animals that you are likely to see are lions, giraffes, zebras, impalas, kudus, and elands. You can also see buffaloes, wildebeests, black antelopes, baboons, and many more. Also, it has two hippo pools, 5 km on the north of the park. It also exhibits over 400 species of bird life.

The best-selling itinerary is 2 days to Mikumi National Park. However, we recommend 3 days to Mikumi National Park for a complete adventure.

Also, you can combine Mikumi with Selous Game Reserve for 5 days or 4 days Udzungwa Mountains National Park.
