AFRICAN WILDLIFE SAFARI


African Wildlife Safari starts from Selous Game Reserve through the southern circuit of Tanzania. African Wildlife safari also allows you to view Mikumi National Park and Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Udzungwa Mountains (African Wildlife Safari) is purely a hiking activity through the famous mountains of the south of Tanzania. (6 Days Selous, Mikumi and Udzungwa).

Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Selous Game Reserve

Pick up from DSM city center and proceed to Selous Game Reserve with picnic lunch Late afternoon, boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. Dinner and overnight at Zarafa Tented Camp (L,D).

You will discover the Rufiji River by boat, encounter hippos and crocodiles in good numbers. Some 350 bird species have been recorded in the Selous Game Reserve. These are typical of miombo woodlands, and the bird life supported by Rufiji swamplands is of particular interest.

Day 2: Game Viewing in Selous Game Reserve

You will have 1 full day in the Selous Game Reserve. Exploration of the Reserve by 4 wheel drive vehicle with your picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at Zarafa Tented Camp (B,L,D).

The Selous Game Reserve is the largest in Africa, covering 54,600 square kilometer. The reserve gets its name from a hunter and explorer Frederick Courtney Selous, killed during World War 1. Selous is famous for elephants. Other species commonly seen are lions, wild dogs, buffaloes, bushbuck, impalas, elands, baboons, zebras and greater kudus. It was originally set aside as a hunting area where animals are abundant but more shy then the Northern Parks. Excursions by 4×4 vehicles will permit you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of vast park.

Day 3: Selous Game Reserve – Mikumi National Park

After early breakfast, you will start with morning walking safari Later proceed to Mikumi National Park with picnic lunch Dinner and overnight at the Tan Swiss Lodge (B,L,D).

Walking safari will give a particularly intimate feel for African wilds, starting in the morning with a guided of an armed ranger, taking 2 hours before meeting your driver at the reserve gate. Walking safaris offer a good chance of seeing giraffe, zebra, elephant, and good birding.

The journey to Mikumi is the most amazing and truly wild and untouched areas of Tanzania. The drive will take you up into the Uluguru Mountains across rivers and past small local villages and farms. The drive is tiring and possibly the most rewarding and adventurous on the Tanzania Tourist Circuit.

Day 4: Hiking in Udzungwa Mountains National Park

After breakfast, drive to Udzungwa mountains National Park, you will spend a day with picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at Tan Swiss Lodge (B,L,D)

The Udzungwa Mountains National Park, which is 1990 sq.kms. Is the first terrestrial National park in Tanzania. It is well known for its biologically diverse forest, with approximately 20 – 30% out of 200 animals and plant species that grow here not found any where in the world. It is really beautiful place for hiking and one of the top ten forests for bird conservation in Africa. Wildlife: Variety of animal species can be found here, including water buffalo, leopards, elephants, and full of reptiles and snakes and more.

Day 5: Game Drive in Mikumi National Park

After breakfast, full day game drive of the park with picnic lunch Dinner and overnight at Tan Swiss Lodge (B,L,D)

With 3,230 square kilometers coverage Mikumi National Park is well-known park in Tanzania. The park is well-known for its population of elephants, giraffes buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater Kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope. Predators include tree-climbing lions (which are in large number), leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackal. More than 300 species of birds have been recorded including Eurasian migrants such as red billed oxpecker, marabou stork and lilac breasted roller.

Day 6: Mikumi National Park – Dar es Salaam

After breakfast, proceed to DSM with picnic lunch
